About the data
Generation comes from Fraunhofer ISE's Energy-Charts, through its open API, which republishes the ENTSO-E transparency data for Poland. Readings are hourly from 2015 and every 15 minutes in recent years; an hourly reading counts for each of its four quarter hours. "Public" generation is what is fed into the grid, so power that industry makes and uses on site, and the solar homes use themselves, is not counted.
Renewables here are solar, onshore and offshore wind, hydro, and biomass with other renewables. Fossil fuels are hard coal, lignite, gas, and oil with gas from coke ovens and blast furnaces. Pumped storage counts as generation when it runs; pumping, battery charging and net trade are separate measures, not counted in generation.
Prices are the day-ahead prices for the Polish bidding zone, from the same source, in euros per MWh. Installed capacity is Energy-Charts' yearly series.
A spell is a run of consecutive quarter hours that meet the threshold. Gaps in the data of up to an hour are bridged when the quarter hours either side qualify; longer gaps end the spell. Years run in Polish time.
